With Jessi's graduation from FIDM rapidly approaching (yay!), she decided we needed to reinstate our weekly photo shoots to get her blog up and rocking and rolling again. I needed the same kick to get myself shooting and posting again, so we (in our typically and infuriatingly indecisive manner) planned a very unspecific adventure for last friday. We threw around ideas and narrowed it down to ghost towns off the 15, the Salton Sea, or a mountain drive to Julian.
Day of, we made our last minute decision and headed southeast to Julian with Mahi in the backseat. We drove beautiful winding roads and watched my car's thermometer drop to 45 before arriving in the 19th century gold mining town, which looked just so. Cows and horses wandered hilly fields under golden fall trees. There was a soda fountain, a pie shop complete with in-window chef, and an abundance of antique shops and quaint restaurants. We were in love. We wandered the misty Main Street, took photos in foggy meadows, warmed our bodies (and souls) with fresh, hot apple cider, and planned out our future life there. The word "picturesque" comes to mind but doesn't do it justice. Two hours from home we felt worlds away.
Make sure you keep up with Jessi's blog as her life as designer really begins!
